Introduction
AmCalc ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website amcalc.com and use our services.
Please read this policy before saving or submitting information. Visiting the site does not enable analytics or advertising; those categories require your choice in Cookie Settings. Transactional recovery messages do not subscribe you to marketing emails.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Account Information: If you create an account, we collect your email address and a password hash, and any profile details you provide.
- Calculator Inputs: Public calculator math runs locally. Defaults and journey progress can be saved in browser storage. Choosing project saving, journey saving, a report or a lender submission sends the relevant data as described below; calculation alone does not make those submissions. Financial values in calculator or guide URLs can still reach our servers in page requests and referrer headers.
- Contact Information: If you contact us, we collect the information you provide in your message.
Information Collected Automatically
- Device Information: Browser type, operating system, device type, and screen resolution.
- Usage Data: With analytics enabled, page visits and feature interactions may be sent to our analytics provider. Advertising requires its separate marketing category. Necessary security and service requests still occur with both categories disabled.
- IP Address: Used for analytics, fraud prevention, and approximate location (country/region level).
What leaves your device
- Anonymous journeys: Opening the guide creates a server session identifier and access cookie. Inputs are auto-saved locally when storage is available. The guide also puts income, debts, home price and down payment in its URL; navigation and same-origin referrer headers can send those values to our servers before Save email. Shared URLs reveal their values to recipients, and enabled analytics may receive page URLs. Save email flushes step inputs and outputs to our database and stores your email for a one-time resume link. Explicitly copying local progress to a fresh journey also uploads those steps. Income, debts, property assumptions and payment results may be included. A verified link restores only that saved version; it cannot recover unsynced edits or quarantined legacy email/account links. Anonymous resume does not sign you in or link an account.
- Account projects: Creating a project stores its name and description. Saving a calculation stores its assumptions, payment schedule, totals and metadata under your account.
- Email Report: Your email, name, full calculation results and generated PDF pass through our server to our email delivery provider, Resend. A shortened guest PDF does not mean the submitted results contain only those pages. This report request alone is not a newsletter signup.
- PDF download and subscriptions: The PDF is generated in your browser. For guests, the download form separately sends contact details and signup source to our servers and describes its mortgage-tip/rate-alert subscription. Newsletter forms send your email, consent and signup context, not calculation results. The calculator exit popup requests both a report and marketing subscription when its checkbox is selected.
- Lender requests: Final submission sends contact details, loan/property information, financial qualifiers and consent from all form steps to our servers. We store the request and may share it with matching mortgage partners for referral compensation, as described in the form. These partners handle received information under their own policies.
- Request metadata: Service requests expose an IP address and browser headers. Lead/subscription records can also retain IP, user agent, source, referrer and campaign context. Cookie preferences are stored locally and in a server consent record identified by a visitor cookie.
Local clearing and server retention
Clearing AmCalc site data in your browser removes local defaults, progress and access cookies. It does not delete server projects, journey records, subscriptions or submitted leads, and may make unsynced progress unrecoverable. Journey access and recovery links expire; expiry is an access limit, not a promise of automatic record deletion. We do not currently provide a scheduled automatic deletion guarantee for these records. Contact privacy@amcalc.com to request server deletion; a submitted privacy request requires review and is not immediate deletion. Keep your access browser until important progress is safely saved.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Necessary-only is the starting preference. Use Manage Cookie Settings in the footer to grant or withdraw analytics and advertising separately without reloading. Withdrawal stops our subsequent tracking calls and removes accessible first-party tracking cookies. It cannot erase data already sent or third-party cookies we cannot access. A do-not-sell choice keeps advertising disabled until explicitly changed.
